Reading Notes:Jatakas

The Foolish Timid Rabbit: Has clear moral lessons Don't believe everything you here Trust but verify Don't follow others blindly  The Sky Is Falling scene from Chicken Little Youtube Goblin City: No clear moral lesson Kind of random Random fairy  Wanted to help the sailors but not any of the other men the goblins have decieved Random horse She-goblins aren't that smart You would think the sailors would trust these men they've worked with for a long time rather than these women they just met

Reading Options

At first it was kind of overwhelming to look through all the resources and picking three things i'm interested in. The first thing that caught my attention was Sita Sings the Blues . This option will be interesting because there's some things you can get from videos that you can't get just from reading something. It will probably give me a different view. The second thing that interests me are comics because I feel the graphics will help me to picture the story better. The third thing are the gods and goddesses because i'm interested in learning how their paths and responsibilities all intertwine with each other. Shiva, Parvati, and baby Ganesha Wikipedia

Time Strategies

When it comes to procrastination I am a pro. Although every year I slowly get better with time management, procrastination is still one of my hurdles. The first article I read was The Important Habit of Just Starting  and I realized just how true that statement is. My biggest problem is just starting after I start I get into a pretty good flow and don't like stopping. The second article I read was How to Beat Procrastination  and I find that the two steps that will probably really help me are: visualizing how great it will be to be done and confront the downside of inaction. If I visualize how great it will be to be done and confront the downside of inaction I can picture all the other stuff I could get done just by doing my assignments now, also some of the free time I might end up with. and just the relaxed feeling of being done with something. Technology

I have never been good with technology so making a blog was a foreign concept to me until now. The only two things I've done before would have to be bookmarking and going onto pinterest so everything I learn to do online in this class will be a new learning experience for me. Although I am very excited to better improve my technological skills so i'm looking forward to going on with the assignments in this class. Technology Meme Source

Class Assignments

When I first saw the word blog in the syllabus I was a little bit worried because writing is not one of my fortes. However after being in this class for one week I find it isn't as bad as I thought it would be. Since i'm not very good with technology blogging sounded like something I wouldn't be able to do, but the instructions for the assignments are very direct and clear. I also like the set up of this class it isn't very strict it's very simple. Just do the work and you should get full credit and if you miss something then do the extra credit to make up for it. I especially like the extra credit opportunities because as an architecture major I have often found myself giving my studio class priority over pretty much every other class and sometimes not putting as much effort into certain assignments as I should. These extra credit assignments will give me the option of doing assignments with as much effort as I should.   Extra Credit Meme Source

Growth Mindset

Before this I had never heard of Carol Dweck or of growth mindset. After watching these videos I have realized how much of a fixed mindset I have. I have defiantly been lost in the "tyranny of now." I hope to learn more about growth mindset, and I also hope to have more of growth mindset for this semester and continue to have one for the rest of my life. I think growth mindset will  be utilized best in my architecture classes. Especially in my studio class where I've particularly noticed my fixed mindset. Growth mindset meme Source

Introduction To a Future Architect

My name is Trishna Patel and I'm a second year architecture major. My main hobby (if you can consider it one) is watching tv mostly tv shows, documentaries, and anime. I also like to watch movies. Mostly action and sci-fi movies but also ones based off of real life stories. I absolutely love all the Marvel movies and the Harry Potter movies. I also like to read books mostly young adult and romance books. If I'm not doing either of the two I'm usually in my studio classroom in Gould Hall doing whatever project I was assigned. Picture of Gould Hall that houses OU's College of Architecture Washington Times This summer I went on vacation in Africa. My dad was born in Zambia and spent most of his childhood there so he wanted to show us the place he grew up in. We spent two days in Lusaka where he was born, and then we went to Livingston where we saw Victoria Falls. We also spent some time in Tanzania where we took a day hike up Mt. Kilimanjaro and a week long sa

Storybook Favorites

Gossip Girl Ayodhya : Gossip Girl Title Card Wikimedia Gossip Girl Ayodhya was one of my favorite Storybooks even though I wasn't very familiar with the topic. The thing I liked the most about this story was how it used the show gossip girl to retell Ramayana. The introduction jumps out at the reader by starting off like the Gossip Girl show would, and it sets up the background story pretty well. The stories navigation was easy to use and the story itself was well written and interesting. The storybook did a very good job of using the gossip girl writing style to retell the Ramayana. Katie-Indian Epics: Hogwarts Castle Wikia Katie-Indian Epics was another one of my favorite storybooks. This storybook did a really good job of blending the tale of these four brothers into the world of Harry Potter. The introduction describes each brother well, and the buzzfeed quiz makes the storybook interactive and fun. This storybook had the same easy to use layout

My Favorite Places

Universal Studios: Universal Studios in Orlando is one of my favorite places in the world. I've been there a couple of times and it keeps getting better and better every time. I especially like the rides that are based off of movies because they make me feel like I'm right in the middle of them. Revenge of the Mummy Ride in Universal Sutdio Wikimedia Commons London, England: London is another one of my favorite places because of the culture, history, and abundance of things to do there. I like being able to take the underground or the bus and go explore all the places there. Tower of London and Tower Bridge in London Wikipedia Commons
