Introduction:

  • The birth of the Pandavas started Krishna's story
Episode 1:
  • King Kansa of Mathura
    • Cruel ruler
    • Had his cousin Devaki married off to Vasudev
    • Voice from the sky told him he would die at the hands of the 8th child of the couple
      • Kansa tried to kill the couple
      • Devaki begged him not to
      • He imprisoned them instead
      • Kansa killed all her children one by one
      • 7th child transported from her womb to Vasudev's 1st wife
      • 8th child
        • 8th incarnation of Vishnu
        • Born on same day as Arjuna 
Episode 2:
  • Night Krishna was born
    • Cell gates unlocked and guards asleep
    • Vasudev took child
      • Whole kingdom was asleep
      • Yamuna River
        • Asked it for help
        • Serpent came out of it
          • Protected him and son as he walked across river 
      • Ran into the Nand People
        • Gypsies
        • Yashada
          • Nandas' wife
          • Birthed daughter (Maya) that night
          • Traded son for girl
Episode 3:
  • Kansa realized she had daughter
    • Tries to kill baby
    • Baby turned into Durga
      • Durga told him that he was still going to die by the hand of the 8th child and that the child was alive and well
Episode 4:
  • Yashada confused
  • Husband bought her son Balsam to raise
  • Kansa killed hundreds of newborns
  • Holy men, travelers, and merchants visited to see her sons
  • Putana payed a visit
    • Turned into deomness and kidnapped Krishna
    • Baby fed off her power and killed her
    • Kansa had sent demon after him
Episode 5:
  • Cart rolled down hill and toward Krishna
    • Krishna kicked cart and destroyed it
  • Krishna
    • Stole butter and curd
  • Balram ran in and told on Krishna
Episode 6:
  • Krishna eating mud
    • Yashada made him open his mouth
      • She found universe inside his mouth
      • Realized that he was Brahmad
Episode 7:
  • The Nanda left Gokul
  • Krishna got interested in music
    • Learned flute
  • Krishna found village boys unconscious
    • Kalia (serpent) poisoned them 
    • Krishna's flute was scary
    • He danced on Kalia
    • Kalia ran away
      • Lake wasn't poisonous anymore
      • The Nanda realized that they were in the presence of an avatar
Episode 8:
  • Krishna and Balram were the men that the Nanda ran to in times of danger
Episode 9:
  • Krishna convinced the Nanda to worship Govardhana Hill instead of Indra for rain 
  • Indra got mad and sent torrential rainstorm
  • Krishna lifted hill and used it as umbrella to protect the Nanda
  • Indra begged Krishna for forgivness
Episode 10:
  • Krishna would play flute by lake while watching cows
  • Gopis memorized by his playing would leave their work and come and dance around him
  • Krishna only had his eye on Radha
  • Gopis tested her devotion to Krishna
    • Told her to drink hot milk because Krishna had told her to
    • She did
    • Krishna suffered all the pain for Radha
  • Krishna got sick
    • Cure=drinking water off feet
    • Gopis refused to do so because they were afraid they would go to hell if they did
    • Radha did it because she only cared about Krishna not dying

Week 12 Story: Radha's Heartbreak

Radha was pacing around the lake in the village muttering to herself, “I have had enough of Krishna and his player ways.” “Who are you talking to,” said a voice from behind her. Radha whirled around and saw a mysterious man. She said, “Who are you?” The mysterious man replied, “Just a passerby who happened to hear you muttering to yourself. You know a good way to vent your anger out is to just talk about it.” Radha eyed the mysterious man and then she decided that it might be for the best if she talked to someone about it, and since she had no friends this man was just as good as any. “OK,” she said. And so her story began. “It all started many years ago. I was born and raised in a village called Gokul.
